Our Connection to the Worldwide United Methodist Church in Action

United Methodist Committee on Relief

(UMCOR)

Natural disasters have always been a fact of this world, and it’s not news that these disasters seem to be getting worse. When these disasters occur and affect people anywhere in the world, the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) is often the first group in to a disaster area and the last one out, ministering to people’s needs — body, mind, and soul.

UMCOR receives funding from other channels through the United Methodist connection for overhead and administrative costs,  so 100% of any donations directly to UMCOR’s Advance Special accounts are used directly in the relief effort.

General Board of Global Ministries

(GBGM)

The General Board of Global Ministries (GBGM) is how we help strengthen the worldwide missional effort of the United Methodist Church. GBGM is present in Africa and Asia, Europe and Eurasia, Latin America and the Caribbean, the Middle East, and even in North America. Through GBGM, we help fund missionaries and help support those seeking justice, freedom, and peace, and to alleviate human suffering by following in the footsteps of Christ.

Days for Girls International

(DfG)

Around the world, girls and women resort to using rags, mattress stuffing, banana leaves, feathers, and even cow dung to manage their menstruation. Days for Girls provides a safe, beautiful, washable, and long-lasting alternative, along with vital health education. Oak Chapel is now an official Days for Girls Team. We are sewing shields, liners and bags on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month. We welcome anyone who would be willing to help. No special skills or equipment necessary, just show up anytime between 1:00 and 3:00 pm.
