In A Nutshell | October 30, 2015

Hello, Oak Chapel friends,

This Sunday we will conclude our four-week worship series titled Enough: Discovering Joy Through Simplicity and Generosity. During this series we have explored what the Bible teaches about financial management. This Sunday’s message titled “Defined by Generosity” is based on 1 Timothy 6: 17 – 19.  We will also celebrate All Saints, a day in the church year where we remember those who have gone before us. We will light candles for those members of the congregation and other loved ones who have died this year, and we will remember the “communion of saints” with whom we gather each time we partake in the Lord’s Supper. I trust you will join us on Sunday at 10:30 for this meaningful worship experience.

Below you will find announcements and other important information about upcoming events. Please review and mark your calendars accordingly.

Christmas Gifts for Mountain Vision
In conjunction with Mountain Vision ministries, Oak Chapel is sponsoring a Christmas party for the children in the Valley Head, West Virginia community. If you would like to sponsor a child, please see April Aten or Ann Kahrig. The sponsorship forms indicate the child’s name, age, clothing sizes and suggested gift items. The suggested amount spent per child is $25. After purchasing gifts, please wrap them, tape the sponsor form to the package, and return it to church by Sunday, November 29. We will bless of the gifts that day.

Coats for Mountain Vision
We are in need of new or gently used winter coats to take with us when we go the Valley Head, West Virginia for our annual Christmas Party.  It has been several years since we have had coats to take to the children and there is a definite need.  Coats can be dropped off in the Saplings Room across from the church office by Sunday, November 29.
Candy Making
Our annual candy making tradition has started and will continue through the month of November on Monday evenings at 6:15 in Fellowship Hall. New candy cutters are always welcome. No experience necessary – we will train you! Come join this great time of fun and fellowship.

Candy Sales
Have you tasted Oak Chapel’s famous glass candy? Isn’t it yummy? Surely you want to buy some. Just $5 per bag. They make great gifts for teachers, hairstylists, and other service workers. Pastor Robin will lead a workshop on baptism and communion on Saturday, November 21 from 9:00 a.m. till Noon in Fellowship Hall. Those who pre-register by Sunday, November 16 will receive a free book. Register on today’s attendance slip or by calling the church office.
