Hello, Oak Chapel friends,
This Sunday, October 18 we continue our four-week worship series titled Enough: Discovering Joy Through Simplicity and Generosity. During this series we will explore what the Bible teaches about financial management. This Sunday’s message titled “Wisdom and Finance” is based on Luke 15: 11 – 16. We hope you will join us as we look at how to manage our financial resources and truly experience simplicity, generosity, and joy.
This Sunday after worship we will also have our first Fellowship Luncheon of the season. This is a great way to build and grow relationships with others in our community of faith. Please bring a dish or two to share as well as your table service. Looking forward to worshiping and fellowshipping with you on Sunday!
Below you will find announcements and other important information about upcoming events. Please review and mark your calendars accordingly.

Tell your friends and neighbors and come join the fun!
Coats for Mountain Vision
We are in need of new or gently used winter coats to take with us when we go the Valley Head, West Virginia for our annual Christmas Party. It has been several years since we have had coats to take to the children and there is a definite need. Coats can be dropped off in the Saplings Room across from the church office. More information about supporting this ministry by purchasing Christmas gifts will be shared when we have a list of the children from West Virginia.
All Saints Sunday
On Sunday, November 1, we will celebrate All Saints Day during worship. This special day on the liturgical calendar is a time to remember those “in the company of heaven” with whom we always worship and share the Lord’s Supper. We will read the names of and light a candle for those who have died since All Saints Day last year. If you would like your loved one included, please contact Pastor Robin.
Plain Township Sunday School Convention
The Plain Township Sunday School Convention will be held on Sunday, November 1 at 7:00 p.m. at Plain Lutheran Church. There will be a short business meeting followed by a musical program with Ryan and Megan Rough. There will be refreshments after the program.
Workshop on United Methodist Sacraments
As United Methodists we celebrate two sacraments – Baptism and Holy Communion. Our lives in Christ are grounded in baptism and sustained by communion. We are called to not only receive these sacraments, but to live them. Would you like to learn more about these practices and understand their life-enriching value? Pastor Robin will lead a workshop on baptism and communion on Saturday, November 21 from 9:00 a.m. till Noon in Fellowship Hall. Those who pre-register by Sunday, November 16 will receive a free book. Register on today’s attendance slip or by calling the church office.
